- Works with most analog KVM or video extenders. Use the ServSwitch(tm) Wizard Skew Compensator to fix the transmission problems that unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable can cause when used with video or KVM extenders. UTP cable is very popular for video extension, but when you transmit video over long stretches of twisted-pair cable, you sometimes experience shadows around objects on your video screen. This is color drift. The higher the grade of the cable you use, the more likely you are to experience color drift. CAT5 cable usually works just fine, but newer CAT5e and CAT6 cable can be problematic. If you have CAT5e or CAT6 cable already installed, replacing it with CAT5 cable is often not an option. The simple solution to a color drift problem is the ServSwitch Wizard Skew Compensator. The Skew Compensator removes color drift by delaying some color signals so that all color signals arrive at the remote receiver at the same time. The Skew Compensator is easy to install with your KVM extender. Just put it at either the local or the remote end and plug in the cables. Then configure the Skew Compensator with DIP switches. Although it works with most analog KVM or video extenders, the ServSwitch Wizard Skew Compensator is specifically designed to work with the ServSwitch Wizard Extender. The Extender reports the Skew Compensator's settings on your video screen, making it easier to configure the Skew Compensator. And for rackmount convenience, the Skew Compensator neatly mounts in the ServSwitch Wizard Extender chassis alongside your extender modules.
