RS-232 is the most common serial interface in use today. This means you can use your SHM-B in thousands of RS-232 installations--industrial applications; security systems; UNIX(R), DEC(tm), and HP(R) workstation connectivity; and more. Remember to use SHM-Bs in pairs. Short-Haul Modem-B Async, 2-Wire Use our 2-Wire SHM-B models to transmit data up to 2 miles (3.2 km). They are made especially for your existing 2-wire cabling. You save money because you don't have to run new wire. To troubleshoot, run loopback tests from the front panel. Short-Haul Modem-B Async, 4-Wire Choose our 4-Wire SHM-B Async to transmit data up to 4 miles (6.4 km)! Run loopback tests simply by pressing a front-panel button. Open the ME800A-R3's flip-top lid for quick DTE/DCE selection. Transformer and optical isolation protect your data from electrical interference. The 4-Wire SHM-B Async is compatible with the SHM-B Parallel (ME806A-ME807A). High-Speed Short-Haul Modem-B Async, 4-Wire The High-Speed SHM-B Async transmits your async data up to 1.5 miles (2.4 km) at speeds of up to 115.2 kbps! Go even farther--up to 4 miles (6.4 km)--at 4800 bps. Use it for applications that require higher speeds. The ME802A-R3 is housed in a sturdy metal case. Run loopback tests simply by pressing a front-panel button. And you get the same great transformer and optical isolation as the SHM-B Async.
