The BLACK BOX(R) Terminal Eliminator Plus ends the need for separate monitor consoles and keyboards for mainframes, data PBXs, or other hardware that logs data out of a serial port. Applications include error-messaging, data collection, and security-alarm monitoring. The Terminal Eliminator Plus supports four input devices and one output device with an optional 4-Port Extension Board that boosts the number of slave device to eight. It also features 32K of RAM, but you can add a 32K Memory Expansion that doubles memory to 64K. Need more than eight ports? Cascade multiple devices simply by running the slave port of one unit to the master port of another--this gives you three layers of units from the main unit for a maximum of 4096 slave ports! Choose from five modes--Concentrate, Broadcast Only, Concentrate and Broadcast, Conversation, and Transparent Conversation--that handle all types of situations. For example, Broadcast Only mode enables you to broadcast messages from the master port to all connected slaves. In Conversation mode, however, you can communicate interactively with an individual slave.
