Order hardened models for harsh environments. These freestanding PoE media converters work as standalone units or as chassis-based interface modules. They're ideal for use with PoE access points or other PoE devices such as IP cameras or entry control systems. Because these media converters only require one electrical outlet to power both the converter and a PoE device, you can position access points up to 30 meters (98.4 ft.) from the nearest power outlet. Plus they're fully compatible with the IEEE 802.3af PoE Ethernet standard and include LinkLoss(tm) and/or FiberAlert(tm) diagnostic features. For harsh environments, choose the hardened models. These solutions can take the heat--they operate in temperatures up to 149 deg. F (65 deg. C)! Single-strand fiber models enable you to send and receive data over a single strand of single-mode fiber by transmitting two signals simultaneously at different wavelengths on the same fiber. One unit transmits at 1550 nm and receives at 1310 nm. The other unit transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm. The two wavelengths operate independently and don't interfere with each other. Use a 1310 TX/1550 RX model with the corresponding 1550 TX/1310 RX model. Note that the models' distance capabilities must match, but you can match standard and hardened models.
