Each Fast Ethernet AdaptaSwith uses store-and-forward switching technology and has the capacity to learn and age as many as 1000 MAC addresses. By aging MAC addresses, the switch can track usage and drop unused MAC addresses to make room for newer ones. The switch also combines a 1 MB memory buffer with an 802.3x flow control packet filtering-and-forwarding mechanism that eliminates corrupt data and results in wire-speed network operation.
