Optional subchannel drop-and-insert ports on the T1 and E1 models enable remote branches to connect their voice/fax traffic and their LAN data to the T1/E1 service simultaneously. The Solid Firewall feature protects your office LANs. PAP/CHAP features provide IP service access authentication. Telnet(tm) or SNMP access can be blocked or password protected. This router family features single IP address translation (also called Network Address Translation [NAT]), which allocates a single IP address to serve as a single point of access to the Internet for every network user attached to the router. You can set up the Internet Access Router 2 via a terminal attached to the control port or by using Telnet access over your network. The T1 versions have an integral CSU/DSU and automatic bypass for sub-T1. They also have ESF or D4 frame formatting and three types of zero suppression: Transparent, B7Zs, and B8ZS. The E1 routers feature an integral E1 (with or without LTU) and an automatic bypass for sub-E1, as well as 16 or 20 frames per multiframe with or without CRC-4.
