BLACK BOX(R) Voice Mux Gateways minimize telephone costs by turning your existing data network into a communication link for all your offices--wherever they are located--over an intranet or the Internet. And they're easier to install than a Voice over IP (VoIP) solution because they attach to your existing PBX and phones. Using Time-Division Multiplexing over IP (TDMoIP) technology, the Voice Mux Gateways compress voice traffic and transfer it over serial TDM or 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX links. They maximize efficiency on the network because voice activity detection and silence suppression enable the Voice Mux Gateways to dynamically allocate bandwidth for voice traffic. This results in optimized bandwidth usage, leaving more bandwidth for data transport. Easy to integrate into your network, the Voice Mux Gateways support all existing PBX and phone features and services without the need for costly upgrades. Business processes aren't affected, and there's no need to retrain your users. TDMoIP technology gives you high voice quality--your users won't notice any difference between calls through it and standard phone lines--plus it uses less bandwidth and is more tolerant of packet loss, latency, and jitter. It's also ideal for applications where bandwidth is constrained, such as 802.11b wireless and xDSL environments. Each Voice Mux Gateway unit has two 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet ports, one N x 64 kbps serial link, and a choice of a single T1 voice port (available in 6- or 24-channel configurations) or four FXS analog voice ports. The gateways are a compact 1U high and can be mounted in a 19" rack.
