Description:
- For versions that connect up to four RJ-45 ports over a single fiber port, see our MultiLink (LB1350A-LB1351A).
- Create ring or string topologies.
- Supports multimode fiber to 2 kilometers and single-mode fiber to 15 or 40 kilometers.
- Buffered media conversion eliminates Path Delay Value (PDV) calculations. As with our original MultiLink Converters, MultiLink II Media Converters are advanced Layer 2 devices optimized for network extension, and each unit functions as a media converter, an Ethernet switch, and a secure Ethernet switch. The MultiLink II, however, also supports dual fiber connections and includes a mode for setting redundant fiber link operation or ring topology access. Operating in backup mode, the MultiLink II switches communications to the backup fiber link automatically if the primary link fails. MultiLink II Media Converters are designed to extend your network across fiber optic cable. But they do more than ordinary media converters, which merely connect a single RJ-45 Ethernet connection to fiber for long-distance transmission. MultiLink Media II Converters can link two RJ-45 Ethernet ports over one or two ports of single- or multimode fiber optic cable. And because they offer redundant-link capabilities, they're extra reliable and ideal for mission-critical applications. As Layer 2 switching media converters, MultiLink II Media Converters separate each link into its own network collision domain, so you get faster throughput with higher security. They also feature:
- Buffered conversion between 10-/100-Mbps copper Ethernet ports and 100-Mbps fiber ports.
- Autonegotiation on both RJ-45 ports for speed and duplexity, even on mixed 10/100 Ethernet networks. They support half- and full-duplex copper networks independent of speed.
- Autocross feature on RJ-45 ports eliminates need for extra cables.
- Custom VLAN feature mode provides an extra layer of security, keeping traffic for each copper port totally separate from the other ports.
- VLAN feature and backup mode can be disabled, turning the device into a switch.
- Easy network design--no PDV calculations.
