Description:
  • Full support for standard IP features.
  • Three clocking methods.
  • End-to-end alarm generation and AIS indication alert you to connection faults.
  • Monitor jitter, packet loss, and other network conditions. Carriers and enterprises can now migrate to IP- or Ethernet-based infrastructures without discarding their investments in legacy PBXs or Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) equipment! How so? With the new BLACK BOX(R) Multi-Input IP Muxes. Multi-Input IP Muxes transport T1/E1 and Foreign Exchange Station/Foreign Exchange Office (FXS/FXO) services over IP- or Ethernet-based networks. A Multi-Input IP Mux on the forwarding end first takes a data stream at its T1/E1 or analog voice interface, divides it into fixed-size packets, and gives each packet an IP header. The packets are then forwarded over the network to the Multi-Input IP Mux on the receiving end. The receiving mux removes the IP header, reconstructs the data stream, and regenerates the clock. The data stream is then sent to its destination. Packet sizes are configurable. An enhanced buffering mechanism compensates for packet-delay variation (jitter) of up to 300 msec in the network. An overall end-to-end processing delay as low as 3 msec can be achieved using high-performance buffering and forwarding techniques. All muxes monitor LAN and IP layer network conditions like jitter and packet loss. Events are stored in log files. Multi-Input IP Muxes support standard IP features such as ICMP (PING), ARP, and next hop. Synchronization is maintained between TDM devices through three clocking options--internal, loopback, and adaptive. With internal clocking, the master clock source for the TDM circuit is provided by the mux's clock. When you choose loopback clocking, the transmit clock is derived from the T1 or E1 port's receive clock. Adaptive clocking is used when the clock is recovered from the Ethernet interface. You want Quality of Service (QoS) support? These muxes have it! They enable you to give TDMoIP packets a higher priority when they're sent to network switches and routers. Flow classification through these switches and routers is simplified, too. Models with a User Port feature an internal, powerful Layer 2 Ethernet switch that is transparent to LAN bridging. It enables rate limiting, VLAN tagging, and priority labeling according to 802.1p&Q. You can configure and monitor Multi-Input IP Muxes locally via an ASCII terminal or remotely via Telnet(tm). Upon startup, they perform an internal built-in test (BIT), and the results of the test are visible at the local terminal. Additionally, the muxes feature end-to-end alarm generation and Alarm Indication Signal (AIS) indication. When a mux's T1 or E1 port receives AIS, the signal is passed to the remote port via the IP or Ethernet network. If that port isn't connected, an AIS indication is generated in both local and remote devi
