Ethernet to Token Ring Adapters from Black Box enable you to connect your Ethernet printers, scanners, Internet servers, or network computers using TCP/IP protocol to a Token Ring network for a fraction of the cost of other solutions! The LBU9002-US model also enables you to print on SPX(tm) (Novell(R) protocol) printers. However, keep in mind that it does not support standard SPX bridging and only forwards print data in this protocol. The adapters' low cost and compact size mean you can easily deploy them anywhere on your Token Ring LAN anytime you need to add an Ethernet device. They work in the same way as a bridge and offer true plug-and-play installation. Simply attach one to your MAU via either the Type 1 (DB9) connector or Type 3 (RJ-45) port and connect the power. The adapter does the rest, automatically detecting and storing the Ethernet device's MAC address in its table and performing standard bridging functions, such as filtering and forwarding. LED indicators on both sides of the adapters help with troubleshooting and provide instant diagnostics, showing ring errors on the Token Ring side, link status on the Ethernet side, and power, transmit, and receive on both sides.
