Description:
- Add Active Star Hubs to control up to 56 devices.
- Groundbreaking! This is the only fiber mux that features split-polling without requiring performance-robbing PTFs.
- Includes a field-replaceable, wide-ranging power supply.
- Also features noise filtering, LED diagnostics, and configurable UTP pin assignments.
- Supports point-to-point and multipoint.
- You can separate two AS/400 controller polling groups up to 15,000 feet (4572 m) over multimode cable!
- Detects standard, 1-Mbps data rates and 2-Mbps IBM 5250 Express data rates automatically for easy upgrades. If you've been looking for a way to link your AS/400(R) controller polling groups over fiber, we have your solution. The BLACK BOX(R) Express 8-Port Mux enables you to transmit data between your groups over a single fiber pair! The Express 8-Port Mux sustains controller redundancy and maximum fiber optic efficiency by multiplexing four ports each from up to two separate controllers. If distance is what you're looking for, you've found it! You can separate your groups up to 15,000 feet (4572 m) over multimode fiber optic cable! Plus, you can add Active Star Hubs to control up to 56 devices! This mux supports standard 5250 protocol and equipment as well as the IBM(R) 5250 Express protocol and advanced AS/400 equipment. IBM controllers support a split-polling feature that enables higher data rates, even when connected to standard legacy devices. he Express 8-Port Mux multiplexes the split-polling feature transparently without the need for performance-robbing Programming Temporary Fixes (PTFs). This enables enhanced AS/400 controllers to achieve their maximum throughput potential at either 1 or 2 Mbps, delivering a speed improvement of up to 200%! The Express 8-Port Mux has eight shielded RJ-45 ports with configurable pin assignments. The fiber link is via ST(R) multimode connections. The mux can operate in point-to-point and multipoint ring topologies, reducing your hardware requirements by as much as 50%. The mux also features automatic rate detection, advanced noise suppression on all ports, LED diagnostics, configurable UTP pin assignments, and a field-replaceable universal power supply.
