When testing fiber optic cable after installation, the quality of test jumpers will influence the reliablity of the optical-loss tests. One way to ensure accurate and consistent optical-loss testing is to "reference" or measure the amount of optical power generated by the light source that reaches the power meter before testing the installed cable. Along with referencing, the use of CCMQJ (Certified Commercial Measurement Quality Jumpers) is recommended. CCMQJ is a reference cable or jumper of an identified quality. It will not pass substandard links or fail good links. CCMQJ jumper cables have been extensively tested and verified to ensure the effect of the jumper on the test is minimized. For example, a 62.5/125 multimode fiber optic cable must meet CCMQJ loss standards of: Low: 0.01 dB, High: 0.35 dB, Standard Deviation: 0.05 dB. The jumper cable connectors in the CCMQJ Kit feature zirconia pre-radiused, domed-surface ferrules. This meets the commerical standards as set in ANSI EIA/TIA-492AAAA. The CCMQJ Kit includes three jumper cables for ST(R)/ST, SC/SC, and ST/SC testing. It also includes everything else you need for CCMQJ testing, such as the light source, power meter, and more.
