The Remote Mini Router from Black Box is a high-performance, low-cost, hardware-based IP router that gets the job done without costing a bundle. Start with the router's great design. A small unit scarcely bigger than a box of paper clips, it's remarkably efficient. Just configure a single software parameter, and the router is ready for your network. It works by determining if the packet is destined for the IP net on the LAN. If it isn't, the router simply forwards the packet to the WAN link. From the WAN side, packets are forwarded to the LAN if the IP net matches. This simple routing function is supported with hardware that filters packets from LAN to WAN and WAN to WAN without losing data. Filtering functions at 35,000 pps, and forwarding operates at 30,000 for wire-speed operation. For 10-Mbps LAN links, use the RJ-45 connector. On the WAN side, take your pick from RS-232, V.35, RS-422, X.21, RS-530, fiber optic, or 4-wire modem connections. You can make WAN-to-WAN fiber links up to 22.3 miles (36 km), and you can even use the 4-wire model over regular telephone cable (for details, contact Tech Support).
