If you want more versatility and control with your KVM extension and switching, the ServSwitch(tm) Wizard Multimedia KVM Extender can be the brains of your configuration. The extender's local and remote units are connected by a single CAT5 cable, and they sport an audio stereo input and microphone input for hard-to-find multimedia support. They also provide RS-232 COM ports for serial capabilities, essential for use with touch screens and serial printers. Connect workstations to the remote and local units for two points of access to the CPU or KVM switch connected to the local unit. With the remote unit's integral KVM switch, you can connect a CPU at the remote location, too. The user at the remote station can switch between an everyday CPU and a remote server or bank of servers. Don't worry about security either. The workstation at the local unit can't access the remote CPU. Password access brings additional security to your remote access applications. The extender also provides premium-quality video by using a series of amplifiers to compensate for video loss on the CAT5 cable. You say you want some resolution? With units about the size of videocassettes, the extender brings clarity to video-extension applications, supporting 1600 x 1280 SVGA resolutions up to 325 feet (99 m) and 1024 x 768 up to 650 feet (198.1 m).
