The BLACK BOX(R) Serial Parallel Converter IV comes in two versions--choose either the converter for Centronics(R) parallel printers or the converter for HP(R) JetDirect(R) print servers. The converter features an 8-position DIP switch to set the data rate from 300 bps all the way up to 38.4 kbps--with six data rates in between! It also senses which connected device is DTE and which is DCE and adjusts accordingly. You can set flow-control method (hardware or X-ON/X-OFF), parity, and word length with the external DIP switches. The Serial Parallel Converter IV is compact enough for laptop users, yet it can work with any desktop computer connected to a power outlet. The converter draws its power from the connected device and requires no external power supply.
