Because of the short-haul modem's adaptive echo-cancelling technique, full-duplex is possible over only two wires. Perform diagnostics on local analog loopback as well as local and remote digital loopback. You can test both modems and the line at either end when you're in the digital loopback mode. And you can control the loopbacks with a manual switch or through the DTE interface. This short-haul modem is coupled to the line through an isolation transformer that protects against AC or DC overvoltages, and internal, external, and receive clocking keeps your data moving smoothly. Cards are available that enable this flexible short-haul modem to support RS-232 and RS-530 interfaces. All the modem cards also fit the high-density RackNest 2/14, which can carry as many as 14 modem cards.
