Description:
- Multiprotocol support.
- Features 2 MB Flash and 8 MB DRAM memory.
- Choice of many WAN connections.
- Multiple vendor Frame Relay support.
- Dual ISDN lines can be compressed to 256 kbps.
- SNMP v.2, Telnet, and console-port management.
- Many models support 2.048 Mbps (E1) data rates and aggregate rates up to 4 Mbps. The Series 5200 Bridge/Router is ideal for linking LANs or connecting them to the Internet. It provides routing and bridging for dual LANs or WANs over Ethernet, Frame Relay, or ISDN BRI--and high-speed links like T1 and E1. It supports IP and Novell(R) IPX(tm) routing, and it also bridges all other network protocols over leased lines or ISDN. You'll save on leased line costs with features like ISDN protocol spoofing, which deactivates the ISDN line when it's not in use and reactivates it as soon as you need it. The Series 5200 Bridge/Router also supports ISDN dial backup. If your ISDN line goes down, your connection is automatically switched to a backup line until your main connection is restored. The Series 5200 Bridge/Router supports RFC 1490 Frame Relay over leased digital lines. It can filter more than 14,000 packets per second and is interoperable with products from multiple vendors. For high-speed T1 and E1 links, the bridge/router features 600% Stac LZS data compression and can drive aggregate rates up to 3 Mbps for T1 and 4 Mbps for E1. It has 2 MB of Flash memory and 8 MB of DRAM, which make product upgrades, network configuration support, and application changes easy. Configuring and managing the Series 5200 Bridge/Router isn't a problem, no matter where you are. You can set up the bridge/router with NetWizard Configuration GUI and manage it with Telnet(tm) or SNMP v.2. The Series 5200 doesn't skimp on network security either. Your network is protected with NetSAFE Firewall (128 custom entries), Password Authentication Protocol (PAP), and Challenge Control Protocol (CHAP). In addition to the many routing and security features of the Series 5200, you can also use it as a protocol-transparent bridge. Many modules are available for the Series 5200 Bridge/Router. In addition to the autosensing 10-/100-Mbps LAN interface on the Series 5200, you can add two modules from the list below:
- LAN Module
- V.11/X.21 WAN
- RS-232/V.24/X.21 WAN
- V.35 WAN
- RS-530 WAN
- 56/64K CSU/DSU
- ISDN BRI S/T WAN
- ISDN BRI U WAN
- G.703 75-Ohm Coax WAN Remember, if you change the structure of your network--T1 to ISDN, for example--simply order the appropriate module when you change and save the cost of a whole new router.
