The Async/Sync Fiber Optic Modem DB25 packs the performance and versatility that you'd expect from a full-size desktop modem into a compact and lightweight unit that plugs directly into an RS-232 port. Offering data rates up to 38.4 kbps over multimode fiber, the modem gives you an easy way to connect full- or half-duplex sync or async DTEs to other DTEs for local data distribution. You can strap the modem's carrier for either continuous operation or switched operation in which the RTS signal controls the carrier and enables end-to-end control of signal transfers. This rugged little modem has a metal exterior that protects signals from EMI/RFI interference. And, because it transmits over fiber cable, the modem offers data security and electrical isolation from potential ground loops. Plus, it doesn't require a bulky external power supply. The modem's innovative circuitry uses ultra-low power from the data and control signals of the RS-232 interface.
