Convert 100-Mbps segments between twisted-pair and single- or multimode fiber in half- or full-duplex mode. Choose from 6 different chassis and 12 converter modules for exactly the right configuration. Chassis Choose a 1-, 4-, 8-, or 12-slot chassis, each with a universal 120/240 VAC internal power supply. The 1- and 4-slot chassis are standalone models. The 8-slot chassis is rackmountable and stands 1U high. The 12-slot chassis is also rackmountable and has a slot for the Redundant Power Supply Module. It supports media conversion for 12 independent links, including 10- and 100-Mbps Ethernet and protocol-independent single- and multimode fiber. Choose from AC- and DC-powered units. For added convenience during network operation and maintenance, the 2U chassis places the power and data on one side of the unit. Conversion Modules You can install any combination of modules in the chassis, giving you complete flexibility. The 10- and 100-Mbps modules have a LinkLoss feature, so you can identify problems on the fiber segment from the twisted-pair side. You can also identify problems on the twisted-pair segment from the fiber side. A FiberAlert feature minimizes the problems assoicated with the loss of one strand of fiber cable. If a strand goes out, the local site administrator is notified of a fault and can quickly determine where it is located. If you need long-distance transmission, you have it--simply select a module that offers a high power output (dBm). With fiber cable, the farther you run a line, the more power it draws. So if you're looking for greater distances, choose single-mode modules with a higher power-consumption budget. With the 10-Mbps modules, you can convert from twisted-pair to single- or multimode fiber. And you can select distances up to 40 kilometers. For details, see the price chart. All 10-Mbps twisted-pair conversion modules feature an internal two-position switch on the twisted-pair port, which eliminates the need for a crossover cable. Just move the switch to the appropriate setting on the module before installing the card. Use the 100-Mbps modules to convert data from twisted-pair Fast Ethernet to single- or multimode fiber with ST(R) or SC connectors. As with the 10-Mbps converters, you can also choose modules that support distances of up to 40 kilometers.
