Description:
  • Can be used with a single uninterruptible power supply (UPS) unit for continuous power--you don't need a UPS for every device!
  • Fused circuitry provides overvoltage protection to protect expensive equipment.
  • Standard IEEE 802.3af versions support all 802.3af compatible devices. A single-port hub for Cisco PoE applications is also available.
  • Modules are hot-swappable for easy deployment.
  • Available in modular 24-port and single-port models. AC power outlets aren't always within reach. But if you have IP network cameras, Voice over IP (VoIP) phone sets, wireless access points, and other low-wattage PoE devices, you can get the power you need through your twisted-pair wiring by using BLACK BOX(R) PoE Hubs. These 10/100 hubs are a reliable way to power your 802.3af compatible or Cisco PoE devices without an external power supply for each device. This way, you have much more flexibility when setting up your devices. What's more, you save money! The PoE Hubs provide power through an existing Ethernet infrastructure with CAT5 or higher cable, carrying power along with the data signal to the 802.3af (or Cisco) device on the same cable used for data. You can install the hubs quickly, and they work transparently with each RJ-45 port detecting the speed of 10- or 100-Mbps devices automatically. We offer several hub versions. For providing power to a single piece of equipment, order a Single-Port PoE Hub, which you install in-line. It's available for either standard 802.3af connections or Cisco switching applications. The plug-and-play Single-Port PoE Hubs are preconfigured to minimize setup time. For applications in which you want to centralize connections to multiple devices, order the PoE Hub 24-Port Chassis, IEEE 802.3af. This 19" rackmount chassis powers up to 24 devices through the PoE Hub 8-Port Modules you order separately. The modules are hot-swappable--you can add them to or remove them from the chassis without powering down or disconnecting devices. The hubs are safe, too. If current reaches 400-450 mA for 300-400 milliseconds, device detection circuitry shuts down the port. This way, attaching an incorrect device, like a laptop, doesn't cause a dangerous overvoltage condition on your network. You can also access backup power via the LAN. When used with a UPS, a single PoE Hub provides nonstop power for all attached devices, ensuring that your LAN hardware runs continuously. And by attaching a UPS to a single PoE Hub, you eliminate the need to install a dedicated UPS for each connected device.
