ATA 100 Cable provides a ground wire positioned between each ATA signal wire, creating, in effect, a common ground plane. Its connectors also contain a ground bus that ties the ground wires together. This construction keeps bus noise ultra-low, which enhances performance, speed, and reliability of UDMA hard drives as well as other IDE devices that conform to the UDMA-33, UDMA-66, and UDMA-100 specifications. Hard drives may be damaged in some configurations if the cable is installed backwards, but Black Box takes the confusion out of installation. How? Our ATA 100 Cable's connectors are color coded. The host interface connector is blue, the device 0 connector (on the opposite end) is black, and the device 1 connector in the middle is gray. It doesn't get any easier than that!
